Hello my name is Olivia Staverman and this will be my first year teaching at Immaculate Heart of Mary. I am excited and honored to be teaching Religion to the Junior High students. I grew up within the Diocese of Covington and have attended Catholic schools my entire life. Most recently, I studied Theology and Educational Studies at Thomas More University. It is because of the amazing religion teachers and professors that I have had in my life, that I felt drawn to share the faith with others!
In religion classes this year, each grade level will have their own content to be explored. The entire Junior High will also be exploring topics from Pope St. John Paul II's "Theology of the Body." This will help students to understand the dignity that they have as Children of God, what it means to be a Child of God, and how they can live out that calling. Not only that, but students will be encouraged to ask questions, challenge their beliefs, and ultimately cultivate a deeper relationship with God.
