As Catholics, we are called to lifelong conversion and an ongoing commitment to learn and grow in faith and relationship with Jesus. At IHM we strive to offer Faith Formation using a "Faith for Life" approach: continuing education for our children in the faith, but also with emphasis on the adults of the parish.
Following the guidelines set forth by our Bishops, there are three major goals of adult learning:
As part of our continuing education, we offer a variety of adult faith programs.
The Mass: This five-part program takes participants on an exciting tour of the Liturgy as it explores the biblical roots of the words and gestures we experience at Mass and explains their profound significance. See, perhaps for the first time, why we say what we say and do what we do every week at Mass. You will see the words and gestures in a new light, giving new life to the liturgical experience.
Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible: We will visit once again Jeff Cavin's very popular series which unlocks the Bible--Genesis to Revelation. Many Catholics want to read the Bible because they know it is God’s Word, but they give up because it seems so complicated. Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible helps you get the “big picture” by showing how fourteen narrative books of the Bible tell the complete story from Adam and Eve to Christ and the Church. Presenter Jeff Cavins shows you how to read the Bible so that you can actually understand it. Aided by the unique color-coded Bible Timeline® Chart, which arranges the key people, places, and events of Scripture in chronological order, Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible will help you discover the story of salvation history and understand how you fit into God’s plan. This eight-session study program includes video presentations that explore all twelve time periods of The Bible Timeline Chart.
Conversion. Bishop Robert Barron illuminates six biblical stories of conversion, demonstrating how six ordinary people, just like you, were met by Jesus where they were and called to a better life through Him.The common theme in each story is the turning of all one's attention and energy toward an ever deeper, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In his characteristically energetic style, Bishop Barron explains how conversion is not so much a one-time event, but a life-long process. He explains, "Jesus Christ calls us in thousands of different ways to follow Him, as we strive on the path for spiritual excellence."
