Dear IHM School Parents, Last week we met with the construction group that will be heading our parish’s Capital Campaign Projects this summer. We are really excited about all the improvements that will be made to our building, including: new lock system throughout the building, replace HVAC system, air conditioning in the gym, new roof on the church and school, and carpet replaced with new flooring. Due to this extensive work that will be done, we have adjusted our school calendar for the end of this school year and the 2019-2020 school year. The Diocese has officially approved an earlier end date this year in order to accommodate the construction schedule. Our official last day for the 2018-2019 school year will now be Wednesday, May 22. This will be a full day with bus service. We greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we embark on this journey to transform our campus! In regard to next year’s school calendar, you will notice that our first day of school will be Wednesday, August 28th. You will also notice that we have shortened spring break and extended our school days by one hour on several no bus days (as noted on calendar) to ensure we make up for the late start date. As in anything related to construction, please be aware that as construction progresses, there could be issues that arise that may result in further changes to the calendar. We will share any changes with you as soon as they occur. Again, we thank you for your support during this construction period. God Bless Your Day, Mrs. Marcos and Mrs. Harper

Catholic Inquiry sessions program meets on Thursday Evenings, 7 PM - 9 PM. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the way people are initiated into the Christian way of life, specifically in the Roman Catholic tradition. It is a journey of discovery, where participants come to know Jesus Christ. It is a process of awakening to what it means to be a Catholic Christian. It is an opportunity to explore the Catholic faith. It is a period of discernment to help each individual freely decide if the Catholic Church can be the place to call home. The RCIA is a focused experience of the ever-deepening journey into the life of faith, which is the task of a lifetime.

Heavenly God, Your Son, Jesus, established your Church as a welcoming and loving home for all who seek You. Here in the northern Boone County area, you inspired our forbearers to build Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish to be that place of prayer and community for all your children. Help us to maintain that legacy through strengthening our communion and continuing to grow in faith, hope and love as we repair our church, address our ministerial needs and address the concerns of our school. We offer prayers of gratitude for the sacrifices and the hard work of previous generations of parishioners who have helped make our parish what it is today. May we be as generous as we look to our future. Bless our capital campaign with a deepening devotion to prayer, a growing commitment for service, and increasing levels of generosity as we work to advance the life and ministry of our parish. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen

You may have heard priests or devout Catholics say something like, “If only people knew what was happening at Mass, they’d be more willing to go.” That may be true, but in this video, Fr. Mike also gets to the more practical—and painfully direct—heart of the matter. He points out that the heart of worship is sacrifice, and ultimately it’s not about how engaged or entertained we are. Mass isn’t about us; it’s about God and what he asks of us. Watch the Video from Fr. Mike at Ascension by clicking on the title above.
